The Sedge Islands Marine Conservation Zone is the perfect location for you and your family to go clamming! Hop into a kayak and follow expert park naturalists to the clamming grounds where you will learn all about the minimum size requirements, recreational limits, why clams are important for the Bay and even pick up some tricks of the trade. If you’re lucky, maybe you will even catch dinner!
Note: A Recreational Shellfish Harvesting Permit is REQUIRED to bring any clams home!
Must be 14 years or older to participate, minors (14-17) must be accompanied by an adult.
We provide all equipment. Kayaks are open-top tandem 2-person ocean kayaks. You are welcome to bring your own kayak if you prefer, but please give us advanced notice.
No kayaking experience is necessary. We will provide some brief instruction on how to kayak before the program tailored for complete beginners.
Ticket sales will close at 4pm the day before the event.
Tours will run rain or shine. There will be NO REFUNDS unless the Park cancels the event. No exceptions.
Meet your naturalists at parking lot A21, approximately 8 miles south of the park entrance. Parking is limited so please arrive at least 15-20 minutes prior to the start of the program. Additional parking is located in lot A20.
